Notes R5 Client Errors and Crash When Reserving a Room or Resource

Technote Number: 1098202

Problem:
The problem occurs when the server is using an address book that is not of the
standard Domino Directory design (Public Address Book design). This can be
with the Directory Catalog or a personal Name & Address Book (personal NAB)
that is configured on the server. The server is doing one of the following:

- The server is cascading the Directory Catalog with the "Names=" parameter
(for example: "names=names.nsf, dircat.nsf, names2.nsf", where dircat.nsf is
the Directory Catalog).
- The server is cascading the personal NAB with the "Names=" parameter (for
example: "names=names.nsf, names2.nsf", where names2.nsf is an address book
design of the Personal Address Book).
- The server is enabled with Directory Assistance and has a Directory
Assistance Configuration document with the Directory Catalog or personal
address book.

Using an Address book that is not of the Domino Directory design (Public
Address Book) with Directory Assistance or a cascading configuration is an
unsupported configuration. The crash itself, however, should not occur; it was
reported to Lotus Quality and was addressed in Notes 5.0.9 Client and Domino
5.0.9 Server.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0.9 MR fix list (available at
http://www.notes.net):

Calendaring & Scheduling
SPR# SSHD4TSRH8 - Fix a client crash when creating meetings and doing resource

And enhancement request, to support the use of including the Directory Catalog
in a Directory Assistance Configuration document, has been submitted to Lotus
Quality Engineering (spr #NDEA4J3NC8).Supporting Information:
